FAQ
What can I expect during a treatment?
The therapist will ask questions about your condition and will listen to your requests regarding your needs for wellbeing. Please provide any information necessary so that the therapist knows any sensitive or fragile areas of your body. If there are any areas that you do not wish to be treated, just say so. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. Your therapist will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on. Breasts and private areas will always be covered. The therapist will provide an optimal environment for relaxation, however, feel free to ask for any adjustment to the lighting, temperature, or music.
How can I get the most out of my therapeutic treatment?
This is YOUR time for healing and relaxation. Turn your cell phone off, and leave your worries behind, as you are about to experience bodywork that can transcend you to a very tranquil place. Be sure to be on time, as running late can affect your nervous system. Sometimes it is difficult to “let go,” but remember that the therapist can more efficiently treat your muscles and nervous system if you don’t “help” the therapist by holding your arm up, for example. Challenge yourself and see how deeply you can relax! This is healing! Drink a little water to get the lymphatic system flowing, and take a few deep breaths to begin to oxygenate your body before treatment begins.
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
The benefits of massage therapy are endless. It positively affects the body, mind and energy of the recipient. Some systems that are immediately affected are one’s circulatory, nervous, lymphatic, and of course the musculoskeletal system. With successive treatments, one can reduce scar tissue, increase range of motion, and eliminate knots. In essence, massage brings circulation and moves out waste and detoxifies the body. This clears the way for the body to heal itself.
How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.
What should I do after the session is over?
The effects of massage therapy can last anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Drink lots of water on massage day, as toxins that have been released from your tissues are ready to leave your body with the help of lots of H2O. Express any likes or dislikes about the treatment with your therapist. Call or send them an email if you remember something later. We always love to hear from you. An epsom salt bath can further detoxify your body, and reduce aches and pains.
